Cancer Healing Journey: Progress & Next StepsFirst, a personal update: the cancer healing journey continues. My recent CT scan showed more progress—the tumor is shrinking, and inflammation is gone! There’s still pain from the vent (still figuring that out with the doctors), but I’m hopeful for upcoming surgeries to remove the tumor and reverse the ostomy. It’s a long road, but faith and some special approaches (shared more openly here on the forum and on Rumble/X) are keeping me strong. Wisconsin Adventures: Family, Friends, & FireworksThe trip back to Wisconsin was a mix of work, nostalgia, and reconnection. I helped Grandma and my uncle with rental property maintenance—painting, lawn care, and more. Sadly, my wife couldn’t join due to using up her PTO supporting me during treatment, but we’re hopeful about a new job opportunity that could change everything. It might even let her leave her current job, giving us more freedom to explore and share “old way” living with you all!Wisconsin’s beauty never fails to amaze. From the tranquil shores of Lake Michigan to the 4th of July fireworks at the Yacht Club with Link, Eric, and Jenny, it was a trip down memory lane. I also caught up with Pastor Chris for Bible study by the Sheboygan River—such a peaceful setting. We visited our friend Dave’s new shop, Dave’s Jeeps & 4x4s, a Midwest gem for Jeep enthusiasts, and had a blast reconnecting with old friends at Rob’s new place, complete with brats, burgers, and motorcycle rides.
Homesteading Updates: Bees, Gardens, & Off-Grid PlansBack in Arkansas, our homestead is buzzing—literally! The bees are thriving, and we’re working on building our first hive while planning for more. We’re harvesting tomatoes, and the sunflowers are nearly done. To support our bees year-round, we’re researching cold-hardy plants for Arkansas’s mild winters. Any suggestions from the community? Drop them in the forum!We’re also doubling down on our off-grid dreams. With electric prices soaring, we’re done with the grid. Plans are in motion for a robust solar system with battery arrays to power our homestead. We’ll share the how-to’s and safety tips here on the forum and in future videos. The barn studio needs some work (it’s 100°F in there!), but we’re excited to transform it into a functional space for content creation.
RV Dreams & Car TroublesTo make visiting family and sharing our Old Way On mission easier, we’re exploring RV options. Link and I stopped in St. Louis to check out motorhomes—ones that can haul 15,000–25,000 pounds for our Jeep, ATVs, or enclosed trailer. We loved features like solar panels, tankless water heaters, and quiet shades, but finding the right balance of size, affordability, and towing capacity is tough. Any RV experts out there? Share your tips in the forum!Of course, the trip wasn’t without hiccups. On the way home, we hit a piece of metal, blowing out a brand-new tire. Link and I swapped it for the spare, patched it up at a local station, and got back on the road. Just another day of real-life homesteading adventures!
